Keeping your Director Identification Number (DIN) updated is a mandatory annual compliance requirement for all company directors and designated partners in India. The DIN e-KYC ensures that the director’s current identity and contact details are verified and actively compliant with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).
Every individual holding a DIN as of March 31st of a financial year must submit their KYC on or before September 30th of the following financial year. This process updates critical personal details, primarily the director’s mobile number and email address, through OTP verification.
Avoids the hefty penalty (currently ₹5,000 late fee) and prevents the deactivation of the DIN.
Keeps your records up-to-date, ensuring you receive all critical government communications.
A deactivated DIN prevents a director from filing any forms with the MCA, which can halt company compliance and lead to the company being struck off.
Self-attested PAN Card (for Indian Nationals) or Passport (for Foreign Nationals).
Self-attested Aadhaar Card (linked with the current mobile number).
Active Personal Mobile Number & Email ID (for mandatory OTP verification).
Recent Passport Size Photograph.
Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) of the Director.
Document Collection & Preparation: Gather and self-attest all required identity and address proofs.
Web vs. Form Filing: Determine if you need DIR-3 KYC Web (if details are unchanged from the previous year) or the detailed DIR-3 KYC Form (for first-time filers or if
updating details).
OTP Verification: Generate and verify OTPs sent to the personal mobile number and email ID.
Professional Certification: The form must be certified by a practicing Chartered Accountant (CA), Company Secretary (CS), or Cost Accountant (CMA).
Submission to MCA: File the form on the MCA portal and generate the SRN for your records.
